ARE THE BREEDING GROUNDS FOR MIRACLES
Duke's Chapel , originally Mount Hebron, began as a bush-arbor meeting place near the plantation of William J. Duke, it's founder. When a $100, 30' x 35' log church was built, Washington Duke, William's younger brother, reportedly said, "That's a heap of money to put in religion". Yet, seeds sown there inspired Washington Duke's sons ,Benjamin N. and James B. Duke, in their famous philanthropies.
Our church house has grown from a log building in 1840 to a lovely edifice in 1926 to a spacious addition for education in 1968. We are challenged by our remarkable history to fulfill God's calling to our congergation to become messengers of the Kingdom of God. To you who worship here, we extend the challenge to join us in ministry.
Our mission at Duke's Chapel is to form disciples, share the Good News and the Love of Jesus Christ with all persons. We invite you to become a part of this exciting mission.
When you visit our church, you will find:
- A caring congregation that will gladly welcome you
- Preaching and teaching that is centered on the Word of God
- Ministries to meet the spiritual and out reach needs of our community
